The trails we ride are natural farm track, sheep track and old gold mining
trails; we classify them as ‘All Mountain’ trails - a bit more challenging
than your average cross country trail but not downhill tracks. Hi Greg, I am hoping you still have memories (maybe nightmares) of the great week you spent with us (Angus’ 40th Birthday week of Adventure) A quick email to say thanks for one of the most (if not the most) memorable mountain bike experience I have ever had. The trails were amazing and you did a great job in making sure we were well looked after. We have been reminiscing all week on where we were this time last week and getting back into work has been impossible. I will send you some photos (I will leave out the spa shots, especially those of Granddad!) as I got some great ones of all of us on the trails. Nevis or Mt Pisa heli bike trips. Land at 1700m on rocky, moonscape-like terrain. Undulating, fast flowing trails to technical single track take us to the valley floor. Day Two - Bendigo - high country farm -wicked back country ride. Stunning back country scenery, old gold mine trails, disused viaduct/water race used in 1870 during the gold rush makes for fantastic riding, sheep tracks and farm tracks- it does not get much better for adventure riding, a few good climbs matched with great descents and winding single track. Day Three - Huge back country Start with a 4x4 drive to Duffers saddle- New Zealand's highest public road at 1300m - with epic views we ride fast, roller coaster track down through alpine tundra to the vineyards in the valley stunning barren landscape, narrow farm tracks, old gold mining water courses and stunning views. Email us with the dates you want to come and we will make it happen! The heli bike rides you will do. Day one heli Fly to 2101m descend for 15km – heli up to another high mountain descend again fro about the same distance to the Pub. 3250m of descending in one day. Day two heli Mt Pisa to Roaring Meg or Cardrona- epic starting at 2000m on the high moonscape mountain mind blowing day. Day three heli Huge flight and stunning trails from the Dunstan Mountains, riding a mixture of the Dunstan Travers and Bendigo trails. A lot of back country descending and always a few climbs- it is not DH riding as the trails are natural. We call it mountain biking for mountain bikers of all abilities. Skills weekendApril 31st March 2nd April 2012 Skills weekend - based around the Classic dirty weekend format. You will ride the same trails we usually ride, but we will spend more time dealing with the technical riding each situation, be it single track, steep up or down, loose and rocky or narrow. Skills weekend cost nz$1500.00 Please contact us with any questions. Your guide, instructor has guided over 2000 mountain bike trips and teaches skiing in the winter as well as training and assessing mountain bike guides in New Zealand. We have a simple and progressive approach to learning that will insure you get the most out of your three days The trails we ride can be tailored to suit. All the trails will suit a 130mm-160mm full suspension XC to ‘All Mountain trail’ bike (rather than a downhill rig).Fat Tyre Adventures reserves the right to change the order of days and/or type of trails according to what the weather is doing on the day.This trip is put together with the assumption that riders are of average mountain biking fitness and have an good average technical skill for riding mountain bikes off road.
