Full day heli bike options.

This epic ride starts with an amazing 15 minute flight over the remote Nevis Valley and beyond the Remarkables Range to land at 1700m on the eerie rocky moonscape-like terrain of the Old Woman Range. Undulating, fast flowing trails and technical single track take us to the bottom. This is an intermediate grade ride, not too extreme, and will suit most riders. Fat Tyres' original heli bike trip and still the most popular. We finish the trip in the heart of one of the worlds' best Pinot Noir wine growing regions.

Included in the trip - bike (GT Force 3), helmet and gloves.

Mt Pisa. Full day heli biking

Landing on Mt Pisa is like landing on the moon - its high and exposed windblown landscape seems like another world. At 2000 meters (6000ft), this is the highest landing we have so be warned - you're in for a huge ride to get to the valley floor below.  We have four ride options off the top, all dropping to about 200m above sea level - the longest trail can take us nearly five hours to ride. Each trail down offers a different view and trail style, but all in epic proportions.                            

Included in the trip - bike (GT Force 3), helmet and gloves.

Dunstan Mountains.  Full day heli biking        

A massive 50km flight above the Kawarau River valley, overlooking the ever popular AJ Hackett bungy, takes us to a landing among monolithic rock tors with 360 vistas that open up some great riding. These trails offer diverse terrain from super-fast and narrow farm track to sheep tracks and old gold miners viaducts and trails built by hand 150 years ago.

This ride combines the best of the Bendigo and Dunstan traverse options - these can be seen on the ride profiles page. We need a minimum of 4 riders for this trip so is great as a charter or as a full day heli biking option.

Crown Peak. Half day heli biking.

A beautiful 8 minute flight to the top of Crown Peak at 1750m will offer epic 360 degree views of the Cardrona Valley and Wanaka area.  This scenic heli bike trip drops down through historic gold-mining relics to amazing single track tucked along a gully gorge.  The final descent off the Crown Terrace is fast and takes us down the historic Tobins Track wagon trail to the picturesque historic village of Arrowtown where we can stop for some southern hospitality and refreshments.

Cardrona Ride (Map>). Half day heli biking.

This stunning 10-minute flight over the mighty Kawarau River valley up to the Pisa Conservation Area, lands us at 1600m on a barren knoll with 360 degree views. We ride steep, fast, rocky, ungroomed single track down to Touhys Saddle and open flowing farm track to the valley floor.  Finish with an optional stop at the historic Cardrona Pub for a well-deserved cold one before driving back to Queenstown.

Intermediate grade trail, wicked single track and huge descent.

Epic back country single track

Roaring Meg (Map>>)

A stunning10 minute flight over the mighty Kawarau River valley up to the Pisa Conservation Area, we land at 1600m on a barren knoll with 360 degree views. This precarious pack track perched above the wild Roaring Meg River is one of the most exhilarating and technical heli bike options in New Zealand.

You will encounter steep, rocky, ungroomed track then drop to the valley floor on some of the best back country single track in Queenstown along a steep, exposed mountain side on an old gold prospectors trail.

The Roaring Meg ride will suit advanced riders that enjoy the challenge and purity of back country trails.

Allow 4-5 hrs. $390pp

Double Descent - Big Day Out

Not for the faint hearted.  Two big 1700m descents equal a massive 3500m descent in one day!  After an awesome 15-minute flight over the Remarkables Range we land at 1700m on the Old Woman Range. Brace yourself for a 30 km fast and action packed ride down to Bannockburn. 

After lunch we take the mighty Land Rover up a grunty 4WD farm track to Leaning Rock – an area of extraordinary monolithic rock formations. Prepare to be blown away! This is a challenging, rough farm/sheep track ride to the valley floor with fast open, tight, rocky trails and amazing scenery.

Allow a whole day.

This trip is available as a charter only - the rate includes up to 5 riders including bike, helmet, gloves and lunch. $2450

This can be a bit like the Dirty weekend or Five day Fury but all heli biking - we will tailor the ultimate few days riding to suit you- probably cheaper and more exciting than you imagine!
