Fat Tyre Adventures burst into existence in 2001
when owner/operator Greg McIntyre could no longer contain his passion
for mountain biking and set up his new business Fat Tyre Mountain
biking, now Queenstown most comprehensive MTB guiding business.
Our trails
Our ultimate objective is to offer our riders, you, the best ride
they’ve ever had! Big call we know.
We have private and department of Conservation land concession on 5
different mountain ranges giving us the ability to access rides that
no one else can. The trails are mostly very natural with amazing
scenery, a range of rocky steep, narrow trails or fast open smooth and
a few cows and sheep (it is New Zealand). On the ‘Gravity’ trails the
descents are huge with some over 1800m of down.

Sustainability
Where possible, we buy local
- Our styley biking merchandise comes from Christchurch based
company Krank Dirtwear
- Fat Tyre t-shirts are printed in Queenstown
- World famous in NZ, the One Square Meal we offer as a trail
snack, is 100% pure kiwi hearty health bar – we even had the owner
of this multi-million dollar company on a ride recently!
- If we visit a café at the end of a ride, we go to a locally
owned and operated café
- And of course, we always drink local beer and wine
Recycling
With Greg’s Scottish and Ange’s Dutch blood, our home and office is a
veritable recycling Mecca – even the bike inner tubes are recycled
into tree ties and our worms love chomping their way through old
invoices and egg cartons.
Carbon offsets.
Although a new concept, Fat Tyre Adventures is committed to doing its
bit to offset its carbon emissions. We are looking at initiating a
tree planting scheme and also intend to offer this, on a voluntary
basis to our customers in order to offset the carbon impact of our
travel.
We aim to ‘Make every day a Saturday’.
